COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
STRAPS, CRAMPONS
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item
Description for all Federal agencies.
1. SCOPE. This commercial item description covers the requirements for the crampon straps, which are intended to keep the crampon firmly affixed to the soldier's footwear.
2. CLASSIFICATION. The crampon straps shall be of one type and size.
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
3.1 Design and construction. The crampon straps when used with A-A-50117; Crampons, Hinged, shall be neoprene coated nylon webbing with brass center bar buckles, copper or brass rivets, and corrosive resisting steel or brass slide buckles. The buckle frame shall have a minimum breaking strength of 350 pounds when tested as specified in paragraph 3.2. The strap widths shall be Y + 0.008 inch. Straps for one pair of crampons shall consist of the following pieces:

2 Center bar buckles riveted to a strap 5 +1, -0 inches in length as measured from the center of the center bar buckle to the tip of the strap.
2 Center bar buckles riveted to a strap 7 +1, -0 inches in length as measured from the center of the center bar buckle to the tip of the strap.
