1.3 Photopic transmittance. The sunglasses shall limit the photopic transmittance to 15 ± 3 percent.
1.4 Mechanical and optical performance. The sunglasses shall meet the mechanical and optical performance requirements contained in ANSI Z87.1-1989, Practice for Occupational and Educational Eye and Face Protection, and ANSI Z80.3-1986, Requirements for Non-Prescription Sunglasses and Fashion Eyewear.
2. QUALITY ASSURANCE
2.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify, and maintain substantiating evidence, that the product offered meets the salient characteristics and requirements of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
2.2 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within the tolerance specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard 376, and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch/pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product.
2.3 Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
3. PACKAGING
3.1 Packaging. Each pair of sunglasses shall be unit packed in a plastic bag.
3.2 Packing. Sixty pair of sunglasses shall be nested two in length, ten in width, and three in depth in a fiberboard shipping container conforming to style RSC-L, type CF, class domestic, grade 275 of PPP-B-636. A corrugated fiberboard pad shall be placed between each layer of sunglasses. Inside dimensions of each shipping container shall approximate 15-1/2 inches in length, 13-1/2 in width, and 9-1/2 inches in depth.
