2.1.4 Hardware.
2.1.4.1 Snap fasteners, belt fastener, and slide keeper. The snap fasteners, belt fastener, and slide keeper shall be brass and the finish shall be as specified in 2.1.5 and shall be of adequate strength and design to function properly over the life of the end item.
2.1.4.2 Adjusting buckle. The adjusting buckle shall be brass or copper alloy and shall be finished as specified in 2.1.5 and shall be of adequate strength and design to function properly over the life of the end item. Design and dimensions shall be as shown in Figure 1.
2.1.5 Finish. All hardware components shall be given a mirror like polished finish with the surfaces and edges clean, smooth, and free from burrs, tool marks, sharp edges and roughness. All components shall be thoroughly lacquered with a clear synthetic lacquer. The dry lacquer film shall be continuous, level, adherent, and free from lint or other foreign inclusions. The components shall be free from pits, dents, nicks, and scratches.
2.2 Figures. Figure 1 is furnished for detailed dimensional requirements in construction of this belt.
2.3 Marking. Each belt shall have the contract number applied to the inside of the belt, centered, 2 (+ 1/2) inches from the snap fastener. The marking shall be black with height of the numerals approximately 1/2 inch. The label shall show a minimum of “fair” colorfastness to laundering.
2.4 Workmanship. After completion, the belts shall be thoroughly cleaned and all loose thread, lint, and foreign matter removed. The belts shall be uniform in quality and shall be free from irregularities or defects which adversely affect performance, reliability~ or durability.
2.5 Product demonstration model. During the solicitation phase, interested firms shall provide the Procuring Agency with two product demonstration models of the item they propose to furnish for evaluation. The two samples provided by the successful offerer shall be tagged and sealed. One shall be retained by the Procuring Agency and the other furnished the assigned Quality Assurance Representative (QAR) for Use as a reference in performing the examination in paragraph 3.2 and the scoring of defects in design, material and workmanship not otherwise classified herein.
3. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS.
3.1 Certification. When requested by the contracting officer, the contractor shall certify, and maintain substantiating evidence, that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
