COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
SPECTACLES SET, BALLISTICS PROTECTIVE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
Abstract. This commercial item description covers an impact resistant, eye
protection system consisting of a case containing one black plastic frame with
two detachable polycarbonate one-piece lenses ( one clear and one gray), each
with a soft detachable nasal piece and two sets of detachable temples (one
cable style and one spatula style). The spectacles come in two sizes and are
for wear by military personnel to protect their eyes from light, glare, and
airborne projectiles.
1. CLASSIFICATION
1.1 Classification. The spectacles shall be of the following sizes as specified (see 5.1). The size designation applies only to the temples/brow bars and the lenses. All other parts of the system are identical in dimensions.

2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Description. The impact protective spectacles shall provide ballistic protection (see 2.2) and light attenuation (gray lens only see 2.3). Since comparability with existing individual equipment is essential to the effectiveness of the spectacles, the configuration must be identical or equal to the UVEX Safety Incorporate Spec Vo Eye Armor System, small and large.
