3.2 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within the tolerance specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard 376, and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch/pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product.
3.3 Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
4. PACKAGING
4.1 Overseas.
4.1.1 Packaging. Spectacles (with lens installed) shall be packaged in a plastic bag and heat sealed. Second pair of lens shall be packaged in a plastic bag and heat sealed. Spectacles, lens, temples, spatula, hook, care and use instructions shall be placed in case. The case shall be packaged in a paperboard box with dimensions of approximately 7-1/2 by 3-1/2 by 3-1/2 inches.
4.1.2 Packaging for replacement lens. Each lens shall be packaged in a plastic bag and heat sealed. Lens shall be packaged in a paperboard box with dimensions of approximately 6-1/4 by 3 by 2 inches.
4.1.3 Packing. Fifty spectacles sets or 100 lenses shall be packed in a fiberboard conforming to style RSC, grade 275 of PPP-B-636. The box shall be closed in accordance with appendix of PPP-B-636.
4.1.4 Palletization. Boxes shall be palletized on a 4 way entry pallet in accordance with load type Ia of MIL-STD-147. Each prepared load shall be bonded with straps in accordance with bonding means C and D, or film bonding means F or G. Pallet pattern shall be in accordance with the appendix of MIL-STD-147.
4.1.5 Marking. Marking shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129.
4.2 Domestic. Packaging, packing, palletization and marking shall be in accordance with ASTM D 3951.
